Golden Fleece Award for Excellence:
The Golden Fleece Award for Excellence is a special recognition presented to
a website based on a review of the total quality and professionalism of the website.
There are four (4) ways that a website can be
nominated for the Golden Fleece Award for Excellence. Someone that has
their own website can request a review of their website for the
purpose of receiving a Golden Fleece Award for Excellence by simply submitting the online
Golden Fleece Award for Excellence Award Application
or sending an email to the Colchis webmaster. The Colchis staff is
scans for websites and independently reviews websites that meet the Golden
Fleece Award for Excellence criteria. Also, Colchis frequently
receives news of a website from someone that visited the website and felt
that Colchis should review the website as a possible Golden Fleece Award for
Excellence recipient.

The website should be
principally created, managed, and maintained by the website owner. The
website owner does not have to be the original web designer and they need not
absolutely have to be the individual producing the website content, but
they do have to
clearly demonstrate that they are responsible for the web design and have the
ultimate say regarding the website content. The website owner will receive a
better review where it is clear that they function as the webmaster for the website. |

The website should have a
professional look and feel with all content tastefully presented in a manner that works to
establish and build in the mind of any visitor a clear impression the
website owner's
personality and professionalism. |

Information presented on
the website should be clearly factual with respect to specific details regarding the
description of the products and/or services offered through or by the
website owners. |
 |
The website should be
easy to navigate. Any website navigation aids should be consistent throughout the
website. Website aids such as site maps and a table of contents are especially well
received by reviewers. |
 |
The website should
include some content in addition to photos, product/service
specifications, and company history.
Additions such as general information related to the website owner's
industry or field of endeavor, a shopping service and external links are a major plus. |

Each webpage on the
website should include a title, keywords meta tag, description meta tag, navigation aid,
copyright notice, and contact link. There should be no spamming of keywords hidden
in the content. |

The graphics included on
the website should be presented on a real webpage that ideally includes a background and a
caption. If the website includes a Gallery, the gallery photos should be presented
on thumbnails that are linked to a larger image that is displayed on a webpage as
described above. Websites presenting graphics from a thumbnail image to simply an
image URL will receive poor marks for photo presentation. |

The webpages on the
website should not include any photos or graphic elements that will make the website load
in an extremely slow fashion. The webpage background image (where used) should be
one of the first webpage elements to load. The total content for any webpage should
not exceed 200K, and no single image should be larger than what can be seen on a single
640x480 display without scrolling. |

charge for usage. |
Golden Quill Award:
The Golden Quill Award is a special recognition presented to a website
providing an outstanding web resource to the public at no charge. There are four (4) ways that a
website can be nominated for the Golden Quill Award. The owner or
webmaster for the website can request a review of their website for the
purpose of receiving a Golden Quill Award by simply submitting the online
Golden Quill Award Application or sending an email to the
Colchis
webmaster. The Colchis staff is scans for outstanding web resource
websites meeting the Golden Quill Award
criteria. Also, Colchis frequently receives news of an outstanding web
resource website from individuals that felt the Colchis staff should review
as a potential recipient of the Golden Quill Award recipient.
